Crime Victims Compensation Program
Anyone Can Become a Victim of a Crime
Each year the Crime Victims Compensation Program reaches out to hundreds of victims who have suffered financial loss, physical injury, and emotional trauma as a result of violent crime.

Victims of crime can contact the Sheriff's Office Victim Services for help in filling out compensation forms, protection and stalking orders, general information on their case, information for community services that are provided in Natrona County, and counseling referrals.

Compensation Eligibility
To be eligible for compensation, an application must be filed within one year from the date the crime was committed, and you must cooperate with law enforcement officials in the investigation of the crime. Those most commonly eligible for compensation are victims of the following crimes:
  • Assault and battery
  • Child abuse
  • Domestic violence
  • DUI crashes
  • Family / dependents of deceased victims
  • Hit-and-runs
  • Homicide
  • Robbery
  • Sexual assault
  • Stalking
  • Vehicular homicide

Eligibility Limitations
Limitations on compensation include:
  • Lost, stolen, or damaged property is not covered
  • Payment only occurs after other resources are depleted (i.e., insurance, social security, etc.)
