BackcountrySOS
Even with the best preparation, skills and behavior, sometimes accidents happen. If they do, BackcountrySOS is a simple-to-use smartphone app that allows you to quickly get your status and GPS location information to emergency personnel.
While this app may be a great help, we still encourage you to use your best judgement while enjoying our beautiful Natrona County! Be prepared for anything, but remember even with good planning your trip could turn into a dangerous situation! Quickly Changing weather conditions, falls and injuries, or finding yourself lost can happen to even seasoned outdoor adventurists.
You don't need to setup an account or login. If it's on your phone and you have enough cell coverage to send a standard text message, the app is ready to use when you need it during an actual emergency, or life threatening situation. The app is not a guarantee of your rescue, but it provides vital information and details direct to our Public Safety Communications Center through text to 911 technology we have in Natrona County.
