Mapping

Duties

The duties of the Assessor's Mapping Department are deed processing and map making.

The Mapping Department does not survey. All measurements are transferred from the filed deeds. We can provide maps to show where the lines are, but these are representations only. If you need exact locations of parcel lines, please contact a professional surveyor.

What is a Cadastral Map?

A map that shows the legal ownership of each property within a jurisdiction. The Cadastral map is the beginning layer of data used to value property for assessment purposes. All deeds filed in the County Clerk's Office are reviewed and processed by the Deed Conveyance Clerk in the Assessor's Mapping Department.

Combining or Splitting of Parcels

There are a few options that are at the discretion of the property owner. It can be beneficial for the owner to combine or split parcels. There are many different reasons a property owner might want to combine or split parcels.

Combining Parcels

If you want to combine pieces of property, there are two rules:

  • They must be titled identically. This means each individual property needs to have exactly the same name and naming convention (ET AL, ET VIR, ET UX, TRUSTEE, LLC, etc.)
  • The parcels must be contiguous, meaning the parcels share boundaries.

Splitting Parcels

If you want to split parcels, this will most likely require a survey. If you have questions regarding these processes, please call the Assessor's Office at 307-235-9444 and ask for the Mapping Department or email the Mapping Department for a quicker response.

Agricultural Status

The Wyoming Department of Revenue allows for qualifying owners to apply for and be granted Agricultural Status. Complete and file the paperwork by December 31st in order to have Agricultural Status applied to the upcoming Notice of Assessment. View the Affidavit of Agricultural Classification form (PDF).
